Acetic acid also known as white vinegar is a liquid widely used as a cleaning component. Direct Chems provides premium quality 20% Acetic acid which has properties to remove limescale and water stains around the sink/shower, it is also very useful for combating mould. It can dissolve dirt, grease and grime ideal for use around the household.

Clean and deodorise drains

Mix 1 tbs dish wash, half cup Sodium Bicarbonate (available at Direct Chems) and 2 cups vinegar. Cover the drain with cloth for 10 minutes.

Coffee maker cleaner

Place 2 cups white vinegar and 1 cup water. Leave to soak, then rinse.


Dishwasher cleaner

Break through soap scum. Add a cup of vinegar to rinse compartment and run for entire cycle.


Disinfect chopping boards

Wipe with full-strength white vinegar after each use.


Greasy pan

Boil 2 cups vinegar in your greasy pan for about 10 minutes to give it a natural non-stick quality.


Floor/window cleaner

Combine 2 parts vinegar with 1 part water to make a solution for cleaning the floors when mopping. With the same combination of mixture, pour the solution in a spray bottle for glass surfaces to wipe clean with a streak-free finish.

Hard water stains removal

Spray/ pour 20% acetic acid on to your taps and leave on for 1 hour, use a clean cloth to wipe away for a stain free tap.

Kettle cleaner

To eliminate lime and mineral deposits, add a few cups to boil then rinse.


Laundry

Remove fabric odour and stains by adding 1 cup of vinegar to cycle.


Mirror cleaner

Add acetic acid to spray bottle then wipe using newspaper.

Mug rings on wood furniture

Mix equal parts vinegar and olive oil and apply it with a soft cloth while moving with the wood grain


Remove grease and stains

To remove grease and stubborn stains, mix 2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate (available on Direct Chems) with 1 tablespoon of vinegar to form a foaming mix. Apply to a damp cloth and clean. This mixture creates a compound called carbonic acid, which is a common ingredient in cleaning products and helps break down tough stains.


Rust Removal

Acetic acid is one of the most effective rust removers. It is most effective when the rusted areas are small and easily removed.

For example, if a nail has become rusted, you may cure it by placing it in a container with white vinegar—enough to thoroughly soak the nail.

Sanitise jars, containers

Fill item with equal parts vinegar and warm, soapy water and let it sit for 15 mins.


Shine your silver

1/2 cup vinegar and 2 tablespoons baking soda for two to three hours. Rinse them under cold water.


Shower head

Tie a bag with vinegar around it overnight to remove calcium deposits and hard water stains.


Shower tub

Spray vinegar, leave for few minutes and scrub and rinse. Combine with baking soda for tough grime.


Stainless steel

Mix equal parts vinegar and water in spray bottle and clean appliances to brighten them.


Surface cleaner

The Vinegar can be used as a surface cleaner after food preparation, just pour a mixture of 2 parts vinegar and 1 part water into a spray bottle and use as required. The solution will also remove unpleasant odours.


Thermos

Fill it with warm water and 1/4 cup white vinegar, let it sit then rinse.


Toilet cleaner

Elimate bowl rings, pour 2/3 cups of vinegar and let it sit for few hours then scrub with toilet brush.


Window blinds cleaner

Use a microfibre cloth and wipe using a solution of equal parts vinegar and water.


Wipe off wax/polish build up

When furniture polish or wax builds up on wood furniture or leather tabletops, get rid of it with diluted white vinegar.
