Sodium Bisulphate (pH Minus & Alkalinity Reducer)

Product Details

Sodium Bisulphate is a reliable and effective pH decreaser designed specifically for swimming pools and spas to keep your pool water balanced and crystal clear. Also known as dry acid, this granular compound is ideal for both residential and commercial pool maintenance. The product effectively lowers high pH and total alkalinity levels, helping prevent scale buildup, cloudy water, and equipment corrosion.

When to Use Sodium Bisulphate

If pH is above 7.6 (ideal range: 7.2–7.6)

If total alkalinity is above 120 ppm (ideal range: 80–120 ppm)

Applications

When to Use Sodium Bisulphate

1) Test water to determine pH and alkalinity levels.

If pH is above 7.6 (ideal range: 7.2–7.6)

If total alkalinity is above 120 ppm (ideal range: 80–120 ppm)

Prepare for Application

Ensure the pool pump is running to circulate the water.

Wear gloves and safety goggles if handling large quantities.

2) Calculate Dosage

Start with the lower amount and retest. Overdosing can push pH too low.

Use the following as a general guide:

Amount of Sodium Bisulphate to Lower pH by ~0.2

3) Apply the Product

Broadcast the measured sodium bisulfate evenly across the deep end of the pool, away from skimmers and returns.

4) Circulate the water:

Allow the pool pump to circulate the water for at least a few hours to ensure the chemical is evenly distributed.

5) Re-test the water:

After a few hours, re-test the pH and alkalinity levels to ensure they are within the desired range.

6) Repeat if necessary:

If the pH is still too high, repeat the process until the desired level is reached.
